Calling the “feel-good production … a welcome addition to the 2014 community theater calendar,” Telegram & Gazette reviewer Paul Kolas made clear his enjoyment of Stageloft’s currently playing rendition of the musical, “I Remember Mama.”

The three-star review praised the “audience-friendly warmth” of the production, which is being both stage-directed and musically overseen by Kallin Johnson.

The show’s two female principals, Christine Taylor (as “Mama” Marta) and Caroline Conceison (as writer-to-be daughter Katrin) are heartily praised for their standout performances.

Colleagues Ellen Cornely (Dame Fitzgibbons), Jim Porter (Papa Lars), Jim Douglas (Uncle Chris) and Kevin Hope (Mr. McGuire) are among others who won Kolas’s favor.

Sophie Szydlik, playing youngest daughter Dagmar, “adorably embodied” the role, he added.

The legendary Richard Rodgers’ final musical, “I Remember Mama” offers a warm-hearted look at the lives of a Norwegian immigrant clan in the San Francisco of the early 1900s — a time that the Stageloft show’s period set nicely replicates, according to Kolas.

The show runs through June 29, with 8 p.m. performances on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. stagings on Sundays. A special Saturday matinee (also at 2) is scheduled for June 28.
