Praise for a roster of outstanding performers was the highlight of the primarily positive write-up of Stageloft Repertory Theater’s current production of “Kiss The Bride” by Telegram & Gazette reviewer Paul Kolas.

“The most entertaining aspect … was the comically endearing chemistry on display by (Allerlei) Benavides and (Erik) Johnsen as two bumbling misfits who somehow went to the wrong wedding reception and stashed the wrong bride, Sarah (Sonya Richards), in the trunk of their car,” said Kolas, who also complimented the classy set design of Sean Gardell.

Director Ed Cornely also made spirited casting choices with Candy Schap — who Kolas termed a “delightfully salacious” bride — and Fred D’Angelo’s groom, whose “humorous combination of confusion and damage control” add to the farce.

Michael Pray and Julie McGourty display “appealing verve” as a young couple caught up in the proceedings, with Mark Bourdeau (as a detective) and Richards (the wrongly targeted bride) also making worthy contributions.

The show, which is being staged through Aug. 3, runs at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Take a summer break from reality with the languid humor of this marriage of mistakes and mayhem.
